Wimbledon had a new Men’s and Ladies Champion in 2025, in Italy’s Jannik Singer and Poland’s Iga Swiatek. In another first, all line judges were replaced with automated electronic line-calling technology and both singles finals were scheduled later (4 pm start) for the American market.
Sinner’s victory marked his first Wimbledon title and fourth Grand Slam, avenging his five‑set defeat to Alcaraz in the French Open final just five weeks prior. His win also ended Alcaraz’s flawless five‑match Grand Slam final record. The final was significant—it was the first Grand Slam final contested by the world No. 1 vs. No. 2 since rankings began in 1973 and the first French-Wimbledon final pairing since Federer vs. Nadal in 2008.
Sinner’s blend of technical precision, relentless baseline aggression, and mental resilience was crucial in his win He overcame a nervy first set to dominate the final three sets, neutralizing Alcaraz’s improvisational brilliance and ending up winning three sets to one. The semifinals also saw Djokovic, a perennial finalist, defeated by Sinner—marking the first tournament since 2017 without a member of the so called “Big Four” (Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray) in the men’s final.
In the Ladies tournament Iga Świątek’s dominant performance saw her win her first Wimbledon singles title and sixth Grand Slam overall. She became the first Pole ever to win Wimbledon, and only the eighth woman in the open era to win majors on all three surfaces. The match lasted less than an hour and was only the third Grand Slam final ever to end 6–0, 6–0, let’s hope Anismova learns from this experience and comes back stronger next year.
Swiatek’s had got better with each round played cruising through the semis with near perfection and saving only two games across both semis and final. Świątek later spoke to the media about empathizing with Anisimova amid the pressure, showing her sportsmanship even amid such dominance.
