Wimbledon Ballot 2024 Tickets

The Wimbledon Ballot 2024
Applications, Odds & Tickets

Wimbledon is one of the most popular sporting events of the year and one of the four Grand Slam tournaments competed for every year along with the Australian, French, and US Open. Over 40,000 people attend Wimbledon each day. Running since 1877, it is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and the only Grand Slam played on grass.

Centre Court only holds 14,979 people and Number One Court fits 11,432. Each year demand considerably exceeds supply.

Wimbledon tickets

The Wimbledon ticket ballot

The one way to get public tickets to the Wimbledon Championships is through the online Wimbledon ballot held each year. It is free to enter. Tennis fans are invited to register in September and October, apply in November and then early in the following year will be emailed to say if they have been successful obtaining a ticket.

The ballot is a computerised system and selects the successful people completely randomly so is done very fairly as you would expect. Only one application is permitted per household. You can not apply from a business address.

Wimbledon ballot odds & chances

In regards to the ballot, unfortunately due to the prestige and popularity of the event, demand exceeds supply. Some 2,500 tickets are reserved for debenture holders and many other seats are reserved for sponsors, media, tennis federations, players and guests who have bought corporate hospitality packages.

If you are a member of the Lawn Tennis Association you can also apply for tickets via them as there is a separate Wimbledon ballot. If you are a member of a tennis club they often get allocated some tickets which they, in turn, can run a ballot for amongst their members.

The Overseas Ballot

A lot of people attend Wimbledon from overseas and like people in the UK they can also apply for the Wimbledon ballot. Again, it is a lottery and demand considerably outweigh supply and each person can submit one application for two tickets per household. If more than one person applies from the same address your application will automatically be voided. If you are lucky you will be offered a pair of seats on Centre Court, Court One, Court two or Court three.

The Wheelchair Ballot

If guests need space for a wheelchair there is also a Wheelchair ballot. Please note that the AELTC advise insuring wheelchairs for third party damage and each space is approximately 3-foot-wide and 4 foot 6 inches long.

What courts can I get tickets to in the ballot?

The Wimbledon Ballot allocated seats in one of the show courts Centre Court, Court One, Court Two or Court Three.

Are ballot tickets transferrable?

If you are successful in the Wimbledon ballot you must attend in person and cannot give your ticket as a gift.

Can ballot tickets be resold?

No, tickets obtained via the public ballot must not be advertised or sold to anyone.

The Queue

You can of course queue up to get tickets but only a very limited number of Centre Court and Number One Court tickets are available. You will most likely need to camp out overnight to give yourself the best chance of obtaining a ticket. Centre and Number One Court tickets are only available for the first nine days of the Championships.

Ground Passes

If you cannot get a much-coveted Centre or Number One Court ticket you can get a ground pass which allows entrance into Wimbledon but does not allow you to watch tennis on the show courts. However, there are eighteen grass courts at Wimbledon so there will be a wide range of courts you can view tennis. The atmosphere on these outside courts is great and there is ‘Henman Hill’ which is also referred to as ‘Murray mount’ which has a big screen showing the action on Centre Court or Number One Court.

Do not attempt to buy tickets on the day from ticket touts who tend to hang out by the tube stations and outside the complex as these tickets could well be invalid.

How to obtain guaranteed Wimbledon tickets

If you have no luck in the 2024 Wimbledon Ballot  you can also get tickets by buying debenture tickets.

Wimbledon Debenture ticket packages

Debentures

Wimbledon Debenture tickets are the best seats on the court and tend to be mid-way up offering fantastic views of the tennis. Most of the Wimbledon Debenture tickets on centre court are on level two which is the same level as the Royal Box.

There are around 2500 debenture seats on Centre Court and around 1000 on Court Number One. These are completely transferrable and can be bought, sold and listed here.

These tickets are available to be bought and sold throughout the year and prices depend on the day you wish to attend. The Men’s Final is the most expensive day but there are several other days which are a lot cheaper such as Ladies Quarter Finals day. Debenture tickets on Centre Court are cheaper than Number One Court but both courts now have a roof so you will be guaranteed a full day’s tennis whatever the weather.

Debenture seats on Centre Court and Court One also give access to the Debenture Holder bars and restaurants within both courts where you can buy food and drink. Some of these have balconies offering fantastic views of the outside courts. There is also the option to pre book restaurants, this can be done from the person or company you bought the Wimbledon Debentures from.

Restaurants where you can pre book a table include the Champions Room and Courtside within Centre Court and the Renshaw within Court Number One.
