What is London Fashion Week?

London Fashion Week runs twice a year, usually in February and September, and brings together the biggest designers in the world who all showcase their forthcoming season’s designs. It is one of the big four fashion weeks with the other three held in New York, Paris and Milan.

The biannual event is organised by the British Fashion Council and was first held in 1984 in London. The event is attended by around 4500-5000 press and buyers and for the last few years it has been held at the iconic venue Somerset House. During the five days there are over seventy cat walk shows.

London Fashion Week is sponsored by Vodafone and in 2012 for the first time there was a men’s collection. As well as catwalk shows there are also opportunities to be the first to buy some of the new collections and also pop-up shops, hair and beauty tips from some leading industry experts.

There is often the misconception that it is impossible to get tickets to London Fashion Week as people see the top designers and A list celebrities sat in the front few rows and presume that the event is just for them however there are options for you to enjoy a catwalk show in London.
