The NFL returns to London this year for three huge games. The NFL returns to London this year for three huge games. The Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Minnesota Vikings, will all be playing in London this Autumn. The Bears and Vikings will both be playing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the Jaguars will be playing at Wembley Stadium.

The NFL International series fixtures are always hugely popular and in 2023 played host to the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans

History of the NFL in London

The NFL has been coming to London since 2007 with the majority of games at Wembley Stadium and a handful hosted at Twickenham in 2016/17 and since 2019 games at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium.
Following this season’s fixtures, a total of 31 of the 32 NFL teams will have played games in London.

The New England Patriots have the best winning record with a 3-0-0 record.

Early Years

2007 – 2012: The NFL started hosting regular-season games in London in 2007. The first game took place at Wembley Stadium. Initially, one game per season was played, and the popularity of these events led to an expansion.

Expansion

2013 – 2016: Due to increasing popularity, the number of London games increased to two per season, with games played at both Wembley Stadium and later at Twickenham Stadium.
2014: The Jacksonville Jaguars committed to playing one home game in London each season, further establishing a foothold for the NFL in the UK.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (2019 – Present)

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium became another venue for NFL London Games. This stadium was designed to accommodate American football with a retractable grass field and dedicated facilities.

Cancellation and Rescheduling

2020: The COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of the London Games in 2020.
2021: The NFL resumed London Games with a planned schedule, reflecting the league’s ongoing commitment to expanding its international presence.

Impact and Future

Growing Fanbase: The NFL London Games have contributed to the growth of a passionate fanbase in the UK and Europe.
Potential Franchise: There has been occasional speculation about the possibility of an NFL franchise being based in London, although as of my last update, this remained a topic of discussion rather than a concrete plan.
